Student Owned and Operated Radio from Chico State Since 1951

Broadcasting LIVE from “The Bomb Shelter”.

February 5, 2012 by

Monday February 6, 2012 is a day that will live in infamy. Wait, that’s not really applicable here. Let’s try that again; Monday February 6, 2012 is the day KCSCradio.com broadcasts live from our new facility! This is a day KCSC staff and interns, present and past, of dreamt of for years. KCSC Radio has moved from “The Breadbox” on Ivy St. to “The Bomb Shelter” tucked away in the BMU on Chico State’s campus.

I speak for all of the KCSC staff when I say thank you to all of our loyal listeners, supporters, and alumni for your constant backing and love for the station. Without every single person along this journey, this dream wouldn’t have come to life.

I would like to give special thanks to a handful of people in particular (cue the orchestra, I’ve been practicing this speech in front of the mirror for awhile and I want everything to be perfect): to Peter DiFalco; our station engineer, for the priceless support, advice and expertise he has thrown our way; Denise Crosswhite, The Government Affairs Officers, Curtis Sicheneder and everyone with the Associated Students who have helped us along the way; Stephanie Swengel, Anita Rivas, and all of the alumni current KCSCers have had the pleasure of meeting this past year; previous BOD members, especially Jill Cleveland and Mike Chouinard, for paving the way for us; and last but not least, the current Board of Directors at KCSC for sticking it out through every single obstacle and remaining the weirdest, closest knit group of people I’ve had the pleasure of working with.

So please won’t you do us the favor of tuning into KCSCradio.com tomorrow, starting at 8am, for the sole reason all of this has taken place–to bring you the very best in live, unadulterated college radio. Your ears will thank you.

Quinn

Loaded with the fun variety KCSC is accustomed to, we’ve begun our Fall line-up with a mix of returning and new shows. Adding to our featured RPM, new music and free form shows are the colorful ones; such as a Scandanavian music show (Scandinavian Invasion, hosted by DJ Polarbear and DJ Snowflake), a Reggae show (Rasta Revolution, hosted by DJ Ras Sigma) and our popular epic music show (Prepare for Conquest, featuring The Booted Barbarian and The Hung Hungarian). In addition, KCSC will return featured talk shows such as The Huddle (sports talk with DJ Sports Master and DJ Dsev) and Sex Talk (hosted by DJ Foreplay and DJ Don’t Stop).

KCSC has also implemented a chat widget on our homepage. You, the listener, can now conduct a live chat conversation with DJs in the station during their show! You can make requests, ask questions, tell the DJs your opinions or have random conversations. As always, please keep it clean and respectful.

Happen to miss your favorite show(s)? We’ve got you covered. You can check out our radio archives here.

Also returning this semester is the block of 9 PM – 12 AM shows that we’re very much missed throughout the 2011 Spring semester. For our full line-up of shows, you can check out our program schedule here.

Be sure to check the site often for updated content, news and events. We’re looking forward to a fantastic semester of the best music with the best DJs at Chico State!

Vote for KCSC in Revenue Sharing

April 18, 2011 by

With the amount each student can allocate for revenue sharing increased to $15 this year, there has never been a better time to show support for Chico State’s independent, student owned and operated radio station. KCSC has 60 years of experience bringing the best underground and local music to our listeners and we’re in need of student support to continue our mission. Don’t forget to vote for KCSC Radio in the revenue sharing section during Associated Students voting between April 19-21. Remember to vote by 5:00 PM on April 21 from any computer at https://www.aschico.com/election/
